The Director, Respiratory Care Services reports to the Vice President, Medical/Surgical/Wound and Respiratory Services. The Director, Respiratory Care Services has 24 hour responsibility for strategic, tactical and operational oversight of the various Department (Respiratory Care, Neurodiagnostics, Sleep Disorders Center, and Pulmonary Function Lab) serving Long Beach Medical Center (LBMC) and Miller Children’s Hospital (MCH).
The Director, Respiratory Care Services ensures services are provided in coordination with other divisions, departments and medical staff to ensure that quality care is provided and to support the goals and objectives of LBMC & MCH. The Director will have financial responsibility to control expenses within areas of responsibility, act as a resource to the LBMC Pulmonary Care Line as the Co-Administrator, and assist in the development of satellite clinics in accordance with the strategic plan of the CEO and board of MHS. The Director, Respiratory Care Services is responsible for provision of clinical care and program development throughout the medical centers, and is accountable for the business aspects of multiple service lines as well as integrates local activities within MHS business plans to include Best Practice Initiatives using LEAN Principles.
The ideal candidate has a California Respiratory Therapist license, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), and a Bachelors in Respiratory Therapy (Master’s preferred). A minimum of three years of active practice in respiratory care as a clinician. Experience in respiratory care in a children’s hospital is preferred. Knowledge of Pulmonary, Sleep Center, and Neurodiagnostic desirable. A minimum of three years in management with demonstrated leadership skills, interpersonal relationship skills, and ability to adapt to emergency situations.
