NorthBay Healthcare (NorthBay), founded in 1959, is a non-profit, independent, integrated healthcare system headquartered in Fairfield, California. NorthBay provides a broad array of primary and complex specialty care at 12 sites across Solano County, a growing community of 440,000 residents located between Sacramento and San Francisco. The system remains Solano County’s only locally based, locally managed not-for-profit healthcare organization.
NorthBay co-founded and is a 50% owner of Western Health Advantage, a non-profit HMO that provides commercial and CalPERS health plan products across 14 counties in California. NorthBay’s multispecialty Medical Foundation employs 145 providers spanning 22 specialties. In 2016, NorthBay became the first institution in Northern California to become part of the Mayo Clinic Care Network.
NorthBay offers the most complex specialty care available in Solano County. The system features two Magnet-designated acute-care hospitals, Level II Trauma Center, Cancer Center, Heart and Vascular Center (including open-heart surgery), NICU, Center for Neuroscience (including neurosurgery), Orthopedic Center, and other complex specialty services.
NorthBay Health Advantage (NBHA), a wholly-owned subsidiary, is a vehicle for NorthBay to develop and implement innovative approaches that deliver high-quality, innovative, non-acute healthcare solutions for patients and the community. In 2016, NBHA opened a 56,000 sq. ft., state-of-the-art Medical Wellness Center that enables personalized, prevention- and recovery-driven wellness efforts.
The Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer and President, NorthBay Health Advantage (VP, CSO) will report to the CEO and be a key member of NorthBay’s executive leadership team. S/he will collaboratively lead the development of organizational strategy and future direction for NorthBay Healthcare and its subsidiaries. The VP, CSO will spearhead the development of NorthBay’s new five-year strategic planning process in 2020 and develop a comprehensive Master Facility Planning process.
Leading a team of 30 FTEs, the VP, CSO will build the service area brand position and develop business opportunities for the system consistent with the corporation’s mission and in support of its financial and market-share goals and priorities. S/he will lead the development of organizational change initiatives necessary to carry out strategies and ensure that operational decision-marking across NorthBay aligns with strategic objectives.
The successful candidate will be a strategic, visionary, and tactical leader with the demonstrated ability to identify, conceptualize, and implement strategic plans, partnerships, and processes that foster the achievement of organizational goals and priorities.
S/he will have a keen understanding of the existing healthcare landscape and current/future trends, with ability to identify and develop non-traditional solutions that that address challenges facing NorthBay, leverage its strengths, and provide additional value to consumers, employers and partners. S/he will have the proven ability to work productively across internal/external stakeholders to develop effective, forward-looking strategies and successfully implement such plans.
Candidates must possess an undergraduate degree and a minimum of 5-7 years leadership experience in one or more healthcare organizations including a health plan, hospital/system, physician group ACO, or leading healthcare consulting firm. S/he should possess a strong knowledge of the healthcare landscape and regulatory environment in California or a similar heavily capitated market. Experience in managing construction projects is preferred.
