Nemours is seeking an Associate Database Administrator (Full-Time), to join our team in Wilmington, Delaware or Orlando, Florida.
As the birthplace of the Nemours healthcare system, the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del. honors our legacy of delivering exceptional care to the children of the Delaware Valley and beyond. Ranked among the nation’s best pediatric hospitals by U.S. News & World Report and honored with the ANCC’s Magnet Designation for excellence in nursing practice, we offer intensive and acute inpatient and outpatient services covering more than 30 pediatric specialties. In October, we will complete a multi-phase hospital expansion that will include new inpatient rooms, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department. Additionally, Nemours duPont Pediatrics allows us to reach more children across the region through community-based physician services and collaborative partnerships with health and hospital systems.
The Associate Database Administrator is responsible for protecting enterprise data.Day to day functions include assisting with the management, installation, deployment, monitoring and ongoing support of enterprise databases for both business and clinical systems at Nemours.This position assists in participating in resolving complex technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation.Additionally, this position requires solid customer service skills to support and assist end users.
Assists primary DBA with the protection of enterprise database assets. This includes implementing and monitoring effective database backup and recovery methodologies and processes.
Assists or assumes database administrator role for projects as designated by supervisor or senior team member which may include: analyzing user needs and creating proper database design to meet those needs; installing and configuring new database environments and upgrading existing database environments.
Provides daily support for existing database solutions, including modifying, testing, validating, and documenting system changes. Adheres to normal change control processes for these activities.
Participates in day-to-day system administration including performance tuning, system monitoring, problem investigation, and optimization.
Develops and maintains database environment documentation.
Position can be located in either Wilmington, Delaware or Orlando, Florida.
Specialized (1 year of training beyond high school) required. Associate's Degree is preferred.
A minimum of 3-6 months of progressively responsible experience in a directly related area, during which both technical and professional capabilities have been clearly demonstrated.
Clear analytical thinking, problem solving and able to respond to issues in a calm, responsive manner.
Able to prioritize and make decisions.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
