This position is responsible for the coding and abstracting of all record types. Other duties include review of A130 report, OSHPD reporting and performing reviews of coding quality as required by Tenet Coding Compliance. This position must also utilize the electronic medical record to review charts and monitor work queues for coding assignments. This position may be required to perform other duties as assigned. This position reports to the Director of Health Information Services.
Ability to read, write, and speak English. Ability to multitask, to communicate and coordinate effectively with healthcare professionals, medical staff, and Health Information Services customers. Thorough knowledge of ICD10, CPT, and DRG coding principles. Knowledge of use of encoder software, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology and disease process. Familiar with OSHPD requirements.
Experience coding in an acute care setting is required
Certification from an AHIMA approved program required
RHIT or CCS preferred
