The Rehabilitation Service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center provides physiatry, physical therapy and occupational therapy to both inpatients and outpatients. We are seeking an outstanding individual to join our dynamic team of Rehabilitation Assistants. Under the supervision of a licensed Physical or Occupational Therapist,
Work with other Rehabilitation Assistants within the service and assist in patient care as advised in an inpatient setting.
Tackle various housekeeping, clerical, and maintenance tasks that ensure a smooth operation.
Escort and assist patients before, during, and after Physical / Occupational Therapy treatment sessions
Maintain an adequate level of supplies to meet patient care needs
Maintain records per Rehabilitation Service guidelines
Maintain a clean, safe, organized work area and contribute to the upkeep of the service work area
Provide minor maintenance to rehabilitation equipment, supervise equipment for signs of wear and tear, and handle durable medical equipment levels
Operate rehabilitation equipment, acquire vital signs, and transfer and guard patients under therapy supervision
A High School Diploma/GED
One year of experience in direct care responsibility in an acute hospital setting, rehabilitation facility, or nursing home preferred
Basic medical terminology knowledge
Excellent interpersonal skills
Mechanically oriented approach
Ability to provide a 1-2 year dedication
Schedules will vary between the hours of 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
