This Job Opportunity Announcement will be used to fill a Supervisory Occupational Therapist , GS-0631-13 position in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service with the Eastern Colorado VA Healthcare System. The PT announcement can be found here: This position is located at Rocky Mountain Regional VA medical Center in Aurora, Colorado and functions within PM&RS Service, VA ECHCS. This position provides supervisory support for Inpatient services of Physical Therapy (PT) and Occupational Therapy (OT) at the Rocky Mountain Regional (RMR) VA Medical Center (VAMC), which is a Complexity Level 1a facility. Principal responsibilities cover a wide variety of supervisory duties, including administrative and clinical, to facilitate the accomplishment of inpatient PT and OT services of PM&RS. Areas of supervisory responsibility include: Inpatient acute care mobility team providing PT & OT services for inpatients on Medicine & Surgery Services including the ICU; CARF accredited Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation Program (CIIRP); Geriatric PT Residency Program; and Neurologic and Orthopedic PT Residents during inpatient rotations. Duties include, but are not limited to: Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the rehabilitation program at RMR VAMC to include: Inpatient acute care mobility supporting inpatient Med/Surg Services, CARF accredited CIIRP, Geriatric PT Residency Program, and Neurologic and Orthopedic PT Residents during inpatient rotations. Responsible for various rehabilitation programs and outcomes that include but are not limited to: CARF accreditation programs, Functional Independence Measure (FIM) program manager, Functional Status and Outcomes Database (FSOD), MedTel Outcomes (90-day FIM follow-up), and uSPEQ CIIRP patient satisfaction surveys. Directly supervises more than 10 employees at the RMR VAMC, including Physical Therapists, Physical Therapy Assistants, Occupational Therapists, and Occupational Therapy Assistants. Demonstrates a great deal of autonomy in performing supervisory responsibilities that include but are not limited to: assigning work to employees, monitoring productivity, workload and clinical volume, reviewing work of employees to assure accuracy and validity of submissions, imposing disciplinary measures, ensuring appropriate staffing levels, and monitoring clinical privileges. Provides supervision of key clinical and educational training programs, including the overall technical oversight of supervised PTs/PTAs and OTs/COTAs. Perform human resources administration including such functions as the ability to interview and select qualified applicants, monitor, and evaluate performance, and maintain effective labor management relations within the scope of responsibilities. Responsible for the development, approval, and implementation of policies and procedures to address focused clinical needs and the overall services delivered and provided within the section. Provide direct patient care no more than 50% of duty.
