You Will Be Responsible For:
Assumes authority and responsibility for administration of the Cardiac Rehabilitation program.
Develops admission criteria, exercise prescription protocols and educational programs.
Selects equipment for program use with the Cardiac Rehabilitation team collaboration and is responsible for the maintenance, calibration and repair of all equipment.
Supervises orientation and training of new staff members.
Conducts Cardiac Rehabilitation team conferences.
Obtains and reviews: accurate history from the patient, family or significant other to complete admission forms; prior history from medical records; diagnostic data for the purpose of setting appropriate goals and individual care plan.
Develops an exercise prescription for each patient.
Collaborates with the program coordinator to evaluate:
Response of patients to goals and care plan.
Standards of care in the program and patient care procedures.
Procedures and facility environment required for cardiac rehabilitation.
Develops and coordinates education programs:
Teaches education sessions.
Uses learning strategies to meet learning needs.
Assures that all patients have participated in appropriate education sessions.
Participates in evaluation and/or change in class content.
Participation in resuscitation efforts which include: chest compressions and usage of the defibrillator.
Monitoring patient heart rate, rhythm, and vital signs prior to, during and after exercise for those patients in Phase II rehabilitation. Also for those in Phase III, monitoring heart rate and blood pressure during exercise.
Charting individual patient responses to exercise sessions, notifying patient’s physician of patient progress as required.
Assisting with any and all other procedures as necessary.
What You Will Need:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Knowledge of cardiovascular disease
Ability to provide education on Cardiac Risk Factors
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin, physical therapist or a bachelor’s degree in allied health field such as exercise physiology.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
2+ Years of Position-Related Experience
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association
ACLS must be maintained within one year of hire date.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
ACLS obtained through the American Heart Association
ACSM CEP Certification
Basic Dysrhythmia Interpretation class
The Cardiac Rehab Coordinator oversees staff and provides direct patient care and guidance to patients and families with cardiovascular disease. The Cardiac Rehab Coordinator schedules patients and staff, assists with the monitoring of patients, instructs patients on proper use of the exercise equipment, and adjusts exercise prescriptions as indicated and assesses the patientâ€™s response to exercise. They also will provide education/support of lifestyle modifications.
