The role you’ll contribute: Orthopedic Casting Tech
Provides routine designated tasks related to the efficient and cost-effective operation of the department.
Is part of an interdisciplinary team assisting with patient care.
Adheres to the Advent Health Corporate Compliance Plan, to the rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.
Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all..
Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrates through behavior Advent Health’s core values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship, and Teamwork are outlined in its Performance Excellence Program.
Provides outpatient services necessary and consistent with the daily duties of an orthopedic practice.
Completes patient intake and rooming to include but not limited to height, weight, patient history, etc.
Manages documentation, supply ordering, relationships with DME providers, and other tasks related to DME equipment/supplies stored in the clinic(s).
Supplies and promptly applies soft goods and off-the-shelf braces to patients as ordered by the Physicians and Advance Practice Providers or Scope of Practice.
Assists with or applies and removes casts and splints, including but not limited to bivalved, long arm, short arm, long leg, short leg, hip spica, and clubfoot casts. Also provides trimming and modification of casts and DME fitting for patients as ordered by the Physicians and Advance Practice Providers.
Assists physician with minor office procedures, wound care, wound vac application, and assistance with cast application, injections, and patient positioning.
Triages clinical calls to help facilitate patient questions and concerns specific to the responsibilities of the orthopedic casting technician.
Communicates information clearly and precisely to fellow team members 100% of the time so that coverage will not be affected by a change of staffing as observed by the manager.
Communicates clearly and provides patient education on cast care and DME equipment.
Documents accurately, thoroughly, and timely using measurable terminology and acceptable abbreviations.
Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department.
Practices principles of employee and patient safety when performing daily job activities via observation.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Certified Medical Assistant, or
Registered Orthopedic Technologist
BLS Certificate
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Previous orthopedic technician experience
Previous experience in an orthopedic clinic setting
